September 17, 2009 The Durham Bulls clinch their third Governors’ Cup Championship with a 3-2 win in extra innings over Scranton/W-B. September 22, 2009 Durham wins its first Triple-A National Championship beating the PCL Champion Memphis Redbirds, 5-4 in 11 innings. July 4, 2008 Kevin Costner and his band Modern West perform at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Bull Durham. The Bulls retire the second uniform number in their history when they honor the number eight worn by Costner’s character, Crash Davis. September 7, 2007 The City of Durham names the field at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park “Goodmon Field” after Capitol Broadcasting Company President/CEO Jim Goodmon. Spring 2008 With the addition of the Diamond View II building in left field, the Blue Monster pavilion opened allowing fans to watch the game atop the Blue Monster for the first time. The famous snorting bull was replaced by a new 20’ by 30’ two-sided bull so that it may be viewed from Diamond View 2 and 3.

Durham Bulls Athletic Park opens its gates for its inaugural season in front of a paid attendance of 10,886 fans. The Durham Bulls were the High-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves at the time.

April 9, 1998

Durham Bulls begin their inaugural season as the Triple-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays.

March 30, 2002

Durham Bulls take on the Tampa Bay Rays in a pre-season exhibition game. It was the first game in team history broadcast in High-Definition on local television.

September 12, 2002

Durham defeats the Buffalo Bisons 2-0 to claim its first International League Championship and first title of any kind in 33 years.

April 5, 2003

Bulls Manager Bill Evers becomes the first Bulls Manager ever to win 400 games as the Bulls defeated the Norfolk Tides, 8-3.

September 11, 2003

Durham won its second consecutive International League Championship with a 3-2 win over the Pawtucket Red Sox. They become the only team in the 119-year history of the International League to sweep back-to-back Governors’ Cup Finals.

October 14, 2010 The DBAP turns into a mosh pit of music fans as award-winning country artists Miranda Lambert, Eric Church and Josh Kelley perform for a CMT On Tour concert. May 15-28, 2012 Former World Series MVP Hideki Matsui spends 13 games as a member of the Durham Bulls before being called up for brief stint with Tampa Bay.

August 1, 2005

ESPN’s Sportscenter broadcasts live at the DBAP as part of their “50 States in 50 Days” promotion.

July 7, 2006 The coveted Stanley Cup trophy makes an appearance at the DBAP for a special celebration honoring the Carolina Hurricanes Stanley Cup win over the Edmon- ton Oilers.

September 18, 2012 The DBAP played host to the 2012 Gildan Triple-A National Championship, the Reno Aces defeated the Pawtucket Red Sox 10-3.
